Woodingdean Carnival Saturday 6th July 2024

This year’s event will be held on Saturday 6th July 2024 Woodingdean Primary School, Warren Road, Woodingdean, Brighton BN2 6BB. The carnival opens at 11.00 and closes at 3pm and includes favourite events including the procession, entertainment and a range of free activities for children.

The Carnival Team meet monthly from January to June preparing for the event.

Join us for fabulous annual celebration at the heart of our community on July 6th 2024  from 11am to 3pm with a change of the usual venue this years' carnival will be held at  Woodingdean Primary School, Warren Road Woodingdean, Brighton BN2 6BB

Fun for all the family - food, licensed bar, entertainment, stalls and a range of activities for all ages. Free entry and lots of free things to do, especially for children.

Local performance groups take part in a showcase of their skills in the centre of the field with a programme running throughout the day.

Stalls are set up around the site and run by local organisations raising funds and awareness for their causes.

The event is entirely run by volunteers and relies on donations to go ahead each year.

Woodingdean Carnival has been running for more than 50 years providing a summer community event which is well supported. It has only been cancelled twice since it began, in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid restrictions.

Information for stallholders – (Please note there are no longer any stalls available for the 2024 carnival)

Woodindean Carnival provides a wonderful opportunity for local organisations and shops to advertise and sell their services and goods, recruit new members and to meet with the local community.

If you have secured your pitch please pay the correct fee by BACS (Name: Woodingdean Community Association, Sort Code: 09-01-55,  Account No: 21278600) using your organisation or full name as reference.

£30 for a pitch, either one or two pitches can be booked.  Each pitch is 3 m x 3 m (10 ft x 10 ft) approx. For charity or local community organisation each pitch is £15. All pitches to be approved by the Carnival Committee. If you are not sure if you are eligible for the reduced price pitch please contact our team via email  woodingdeancarnival@gmail.com.

Please note that your provided description of your type of stall or activity on your application form cannot be changed before the day, thus ensuring we do not have duplicate stalls at the Carnival. 

Terms and conditions apply, stallholders should note you must:

  • Please bring your own tables and equipment, these cannot be provided.
  • Please ensure gazebos and other equipment fit within the size of the pitch you have booked.
  • Stalls should be ready to start serving the public by 11am and be away from the site by 3.30pm.
  • Take your rubbish away. There will be some recycling bins on site if that helps!
  • Access to the site for setting up is available on the morning from 8.30am. All vehicles must be cleared from the main event ground by 10.30am. There will be space for one vehicle per stall on the school playground area.
  • No dogs, bicycles, or scooters etc are allowed anywhere on the Carnival Site.
  • Sale of any items that might litter the field, cause nuisance, or cause potential for injury are banned. This includes silly string, stink bombs, any small glass items, and laser pointers. Penalty: If you do not remove any unacceptable items from sale immediately, you will be asked to leave the field. There will be no invite next year.
  • Woodingdean Community Association has Public Liability insurance for this event, but this does not include cover for any loss or theft of goods, damage to property, or injury – to anybody or thing - where Carnival organisers are deemed not responsible. You should therefore have your own insurance to cover your own risks.
  • We are not able to accommodate food or drinks vans on the site.
